House Painter in Clydach

Daffodil Decor are house painters covering Clydach and the surrounding SA6 valley. One team handles everything: rendered and brick exteriors, timber fascias, soffits, window frames, and interior rooms throughout — coordinated as one project with one schedule and one point of contact.
Clydach sits six miles up the Swansea Valley from the city centre. The valley channels over 1,200mm of rainfall per year. That combination of Victorian construction and high-exposure climate shapes every painting job we do here.
- Exterior masonry: brick, render, and pebbledash
- Timber: fascias, soffits, barge boards, window frames, doors
- Interior rooms: ceilings, walls, woodwork throughout
- Fence and outbuilding painting
- Mould treatment and surface preparation

Clydach Properties We Paint
The terraced streets running from Clydach Road to High Street and along Glais Road were built to house Mond Nickel Works refinery workers from the early 1900s. These properties are now 100 to 130 years old and many have had minimal exterior work in decades.
Victorian Terraces
Solid brick and stone construction, built quickly and densely across the valley slopes. Where original render survives, it may be lime-based. We match the coating to the wall type: solid-wall construction needs breathable masonry paint.
Our exterior painting page covers the preparation approach. See also masonry painting for render and brick systems.
Valley Climate Challenges
Clydach receives over 1,200mm of rainfall annually, with sustained wet periods from October to March and humidity regularly above 80%. For exterior painting, we need a dry window of at least 48 hours during application.
Biological growth on north-facing elevations along Craig-cefn-parc is common and is removed before any masonry paint goes on.
Interior Painting in Clydach
Kitchens and bathrooms often develop mould staining due to valley humidity. We treat affected areas with fungicidal solution before painting and use moisture-resistant formulations in these rooms as standard.
Woodwork, skirtings, doors, and door frames get an oil or alkyd finish for durability. See interior painting.
Original Timber Windows
Original softwood casements still appear in Clydach terraces. We assess each frame on condition and advise clearly on what can be saved and what cannot. We use flexible fillers compatible with older render systems.

House Painting Costs in Clydach
Prices below are estimates only. Every property is different. Call 01792 949708 for a precise quote.

2-Bed Victorian Terrace, Exterior Only
Clydach Road or High Street. Brick or rendered, two main elevations, timber fascias and soffits, window frames, front door. Typical cost: £1,500–£2,200.
3-Bed Terrace, Full Interior and Exterior
All rooms, ceilings, woodwork throughout, plus exterior masonry, timber, and front door. Typical cost: £4,000–£5,800.
Terraced Row Combined Project
Short terraced row of 3–4 properties with shared scaffold across the party walls. Reduces cost per property compared to individual bookings. Typical cost per property: £1,200–£1,900 exterior only.
Clydach’s rainfall means preparation takes longer than on a comparable inland property. Budget for thorough biological growth removal. Properties left more than ten years without treatment will need a full preparation phase.
How We Work on Clydach Properties
1. Site Visit and Assessment
We check render condition, timber state, biological growth, moisture on interior walls, and access constraints. Written quote with a clear breakdown. No surprises after work starts.
2. Surface Preparation
Jet-washing removes moss, algae, and loose paint. Loose or hollow render is cut back and made good. Timber is stripped to sound material. Interior walls are treated for mould before painting over.
3. Priming
Bare masonry is stabilised with appropriate primer. Bare timber gets an oil-based or specialist primer. Skipping or using the wrong primer is the most common cause of early paint failure.
4. Finish Coats
Two coats on all surfaces with full drying time between applications. We specify high-exposure exterior coatings on Clydach properties where conditions warrant.
5. Inspection and Completion
All surfaces checked in good light. Touch-ups completed on site. We walk through the finished work with you before closing the job.
